Prof. Xu Yangsheng

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering

Professor Xu is a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He worked at Carnegie Mellon University (USA) for years and joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong subsequently. In August of 2013, Professor Xu was appointed the first President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen after a global selection process.

Professor Xu's research includes robotics and artificial intelligence. He has been interested in space robotics, service robotics, robot language, wearable interface, intelligent vehicles and self-learning systems. He has published 6 books, and over 300 papers in international journals in these areas. He is Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, International Member of the US National Academy of Engineering, Fellow of EU Academy of Sciences, Fellow of International Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, and Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences. In 14 November 2016, a main-belt asteroid was named 59425 Xu-Yangsheng in recognition of his contributions.
